Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865 β the day enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This moment continues to represent the ongoing pursuit of justice, freedom, and equality. Richmond has proudly celebrated Juneteenth for over 40 years, bringing the community together in remembrance and celebration. π€
