What It Is & Who It Serves
The Youth Fellowship Project is a collaborative leadership initiative designed to empower young people across the City of Richmond. Fellows gain hands-on experience supporting civic, environmental, and community-focused projects, while building real-world skills that prepare them for college, careers, and community leadership.
This program primarily serves high school youth and young adults who are eager to:
- Work alongside organizations driving change in their neighborhoods
- Make a positive impact in Richmond
- Learn how community programs operate
- Develop leadership, management, and communication skills
What Fellows Do
Youth Fellows participate in meaningful, impact-driven work that strengthens both their leadership skills and the community. They conduct community-based research and surveys, support data collection for neighborhood projects, attend workshops and trainings focused on leadership, planning, communication, and civic engagement, and collaborate closely with City of Richmond departments and local partner organizations. Fellows also play key roles in supporting, planning, and implementing community programming and events throughout Richmond.
